A YSRCP leader has been sentenced to 50 months in prison in the US for torturing a young man from Andhra Pradesh, Eenadu reported. The verdict in this case was delivered on October 11, 2026.
Sattaru Venkatesh Reddy (38), son of Sattaru Pushpa Reddy, a YSRCP leader and former MPTC member from Chikatigalapalem village in Vinukonda mandal, Palnadu district, took Marthala Pullareddy from the same village to the US in 2022.
Venkatesh Reddy had promised Pullareddy, who had completed his intermediate education, that he would help him study and secure a job, Eenadu stated. However, after taking him to the US, Pullareddy was allegedly subjected to torture.
The US court sentenced Sattaru Venkatesh Reddy to 50 months in prison in this case. This verdict once again brings to light issues related to the safety of Indian expatriates.
This incident highlights the challenges and risks faced by young people from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana who travel abroad, especially those seeking employment or educational opportunities.
