The BJP holds a padayatra in Hyderabad on Monday, November 2, to counter what it calls a false Congress campaign on the special intensive revision (SIR) of voter rolls. Union Home Minister Amit Shah will walk from the Babu Jagjivan Ram statue at Nizam College to Mozamjahi Market from 3 PM and address a meeting there. The slogan is "Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao".

Route and traffic

  • The march was first planned on Tank Bund, but the route was changed because Tank Bund may not hold a large crowd, Deccan Chronicle reported.
  • Traffic curbs apply from 1 PM to 7 PM. Motorists are told to avoid Liberty, Basheerbagh, AR Petrol Pump, Ravindra Bharathi, Gunfoundry, GPO, Nampally, Taj Island, MJ Market, Afzalgunj and Jambagh junctions. Traffic helpline: 9010203626.
  • Hyderabad is under a yellow alert on Monday, with light to moderate rain possible, per IMD.

Two sets of numbers

At Delhi's Ramlila Maidan on Sunday, CM Revanth Reddy claimed 13.5 crore votes have been deleted nationwide and up to 20 crore could go. BJP state president N Ramchander Rao has said that of about 13 crore names, 2.8 crore were dead voters, 3 crore absent or untraceable, 6.3 crore permanently shifted and nearly 1 crore registered in more than one place, Oneindia reported. Both sets of figures come from the parties, not from the Election Commission.

Rao also said South Central Railway is running 1,000 special trains this festival season, and that the Congress dharna over special trains for its Delhi rally was an attempt to show central bodies in a poor light. No Congress or BRS response to the padayatra was available.
