Indian veteran shuttler HS Prannoy and Telangana player Manneppalli Tarun were eliminated in the first round of the Arctic Open Super 500 tournament in Vantaa, Finland, as reported by Namasthe Telangana.
According to Namasthe Telangana, Prannoy lost 10-21, 9-21 to Anders of Denmark, while Tarun was defeated 16-21, 14-21 by Johansen, also from Denmark, in matches played on Wednesday.
However, in the men's doubles first round, the pair of Krishna Prasad and Prithvi delivered a strong performance. As per the Namasthe Telangana report, they upset the fifth-seeded Chinese duo of He Ji Ting and Ren Xiang with scores of 10-21, 21-18, 22-20 to advance to the second round.
While the early exit of Telangana's Tarun might be disappointing for sports enthusiasts in the region, the advancement of the Krishna Prasad-Prithvi pair offers a glimmer of hope for Indian badminton in the tournament.
