ASHA workers across the state have launched protests demanding minimum wages, permanent employment, job security, and all types of leave, Prajasakti reported.
Under the leadership of the ASHA Workers' Union (CITU), memorandums were submitted to ministers and MLAs on Tuesday, according to Prajasakti. They urged for the resolution of their issues during these submissions.
The ASHA workers also demanded that trained ANMs and GNMs be given priority during the filling of permanent posts, and that the number of ASHA workers be increased in line with the growing population.
In Nandyal district center, ASHA workers submitted a memorandum to State Minister for Law and Minority Welfare, NMD. Farooq, Prajasakti stated.
On this occasion, K. Subbaravamma, State General Secretary of the AP Anganwadi Workers' Union, demanded that the government recognize Anganwadi, ASHA, and Mid-Day Meal workers, who are working under central government schemes, as government employees and provide them with minimum wages, retirement benefits, and other facilities, Prajasakti reported.
If the demands of ASHA workers are met, it could lead to improved health services for the public in the state, as their services are crucial for healthcare in rural areas.
