India has the potential to develop world-class golfers over the next decade, according to leaders of DP World PGTI. They shared this perspective during a media interaction in Hyderabad, attributing it to the country's young demographic, broader access to the sport, robust grassroots infrastructure, and increased international exposure for Indian players.
Amitabh Kant, a Board Member of DP World PGTI, former G20 Sherpa, and former CEO of NITI Aayog, articulated this vision. Atul Chaturvedi, a Member of the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) and former Secretary to the Government of India, along with Amandeep Johl, CEO of DP World PGTI, also participated in the discussion.
The officials highlighted prospects for expanding golf's reach across India, strengthening the nation's presence in global competitions, and establishing India as a destination for golf tourism. They observed that golf is entering an exciting period within the country.
Drawing parallels with India's journey in cricket, Amitabh Kant noted that India has established itself in world cricket. He added that a similar progression is now beginning in golf.
