Pressure is building for a new elected body at the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA). Former BCCI president and India off-spinner N Shivlal Yadav and former HCA president Arshad Ayub spoke on the issue on Wednesday.

They asked the Single Member Committee (SMC), headed by Justice (Retd) Naveen Rao, to allow an early Special General Meeting (SGM). The Apex Council's term ended on 20 October.

What they said

  • Shivlal wants the SGM to lead to an Annual General Meeting, where accounts can be passed and a decision on elections taken.
  • Ayub said the Justice Lodha Committee recommendations, especially rules on key appointments and eligibility, including for selectors, should be written into the HCA constitution.
  • Ayub said neither of them is seeking any post and they want a young, elected body in place quickly.

Former HCA secretary K John Manoj said 108 affiliated members have already appealed in writing to Justice Rao and are awaiting a reply. More than 50 club secretaries attended the briefing.

The committee has not yet responded. No dates for an SGM or AGM have been announced.
