The High Court has clarified that the allocation of 30% of Secondary Grade Teacher (SGT) posts to D.Ed qualified candidates in the DSC-2008 teacher recruitment is valid. The court issued its verdict upholding Government Order 28.
A division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice P. Shyam Koshi and Justice Suddala Chalapathi Rao heard the petitions. The judgment was delivered on October 17.
The recruitment notification for 52,665 posts, including SGT and School Assistant, was issued in 2008. Petitions were filed in the High Court in 2009 challenging the 30% reservation for D.Ed candidates in SGT posts.
Lawyers representing the petitioners argued that amending rules after a notification is issued is akin to changing game rules after it has begun. They contended that such changes are not permissible.
