The Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IITH) has introduced a new one-credit elective course for its students, titled 'Goodness: Character, Responsibility and Human Flourishing' (LA2270).

This course aims to encourage students to develop ethics and resilience. It is offered alongside a mandatory Mental Well-Being course for first-year students.

More than 140 students have already opted for this course. It is open to undergraduate BTech students from the first to fourth years, as well as BDes students, with no prerequisites.

The program helps students explore what constitutes a meaningful life. It expands the understanding of success beyond just income and professional position.

Rather than providing a single definition of goodness, the course encourages students to consider how their personal choices and everyday actions impact both individuals and society.

Across seven sessions, students will examine the Goodness Index framework, human flourishing across various dimensions, Character Infrastructure, and the relationship between goodness and the vision of Viksit Bharat.
