India has the potential to produce world-class golfers over the next decade, leaders of DP World PGTI said at a media interaction in Hyderabad. They attributed this potential to the country's young population, robust grassroots development, and increasing international exposure for players.

Amitabh Kant, Board Member of DP World PGTI and former G20 Sherpa, along with Atul Chaturvedi, Member of the National Company Law Tribunal, and Amandeep Johl, CEO of DP World PGTI, highlighted several opportunities. These include expanding golf's reach across India, strengthening the nation's presence in international competitions, and establishing India as a golf tourism destination.

The officials emphasized the importance of wider access to the sport and fostering stronger global competitiveness. Amitabh Kant drew parallels with India's success in cricket, noting that the country is now embarking on a similar journey in golf.

Kant further added that golf is entering an exciting phase in India. The focus is on nurturing talent from a young age and providing them with the necessary infrastructure and international exposure to excel.

The DP World PGTI leaders believe that enhanced access to the sport, coupled with stronger foundational infrastructure, will help develop top-tier golfers. These discussions took place on the sidelines of the ongoing DP World India C.
