Indian freestyle wrestlers secured three bronze medals on the final day of the U23 World Wrestling Championships in Las Vegas. The squad won all three of their medal matches, bringing India's total tally to six medals.
Rohit, Jaskaran, and Chandermohan were the bronze medalists, contributing to India's overall count of two silver and four bronze medals. Their victories ensured that no Indian wrestler who reached the medal rounds returned home empty-handed.
In the 65kg category, Rohit, competing in his first major international tournament in four years, showed grit and mat awareness. He defeated Magomedkhan Magamedkhanov of Belarus with a score of 8-5 in a tough bout.
Chandermohan achieved a good result in the 79kg weight class by overcoming Ibrahim Metehan Yaprak of Turkiye, who was last year's U23 World silver medalist. Chandermohan controlled the pace to secure a 5-2 win.
The Indian freestyle squad's performance on the final day marked a turnaround, as they converted all their medal opportunities into podium finishes. This strong showing boosted the nation's overall medal count.
