The government has decided to formulate comprehensive legislation to safeguard students' rights and address discrimination based on caste and social background in educational institutions. Key discussions on this matter took place at a cabinet sub-committee meeting chaired by the deputy chief minister.

The meeting primarily focused on the legal and technical framework for the proposed legislation and the role of NALSAR University of Law in drafting the Bill.

Officials informed the committee that NALSAR had agreed to assist in framing the provisions of the proposed law. It was decided to draw on the university’s expertise and prepare a comprehensive draft by incorporating inputs from relevant departments and subject experts.

Bhatti directed officials to frame robust legislation to safeguard students’ rights and address discrimination based on caste and social background in educational institutions.

The meeting stressed that the proposed law should focus on ensuring equal opportunities, preventing discrimination, and creating a fair and inclusive environment for students. It was also emphasised that the provisions should be practical, enforceable, and supported by clear institutional mechanisms for implementation.

This new law will help provide a better, discrimination-free environment for students in educational institutions across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, ensuring a more secure future for them.
