The Students Protection Forum (SPF) has submitted a representation to the university principal regarding various issues faced by students in hostels, urging for immediate action on drinking water, hygiene, and accommodation.
According to The Times of India, the forum alleged that drinking water filters were not functioning properly and that the water was often dirty and unhygienic. SPF also raised concerns over unclean corridors, poorly maintained washrooms, non-functional toilets, and inadequate water supply.
The forum further alleged that some rooms housed around 10 students, while study halls lacked sufficient chairs, tables, and lighting. Concerns were also raised over the quality and hygiene of hostel food.
Citing sanitation and hygiene issues, SPF said students were facing health-related difficulties and considerable inconvenience. These problems are significantly impacting the well-being of the students.
The forum urged the university to immediately inspect all hostels and take corrective measures to ensure clean drinking water, proper sanitation, functional toilets, adequate water supply, hygienic food, and suitable room accommodation.
Students in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are looking for improved living conditions and a healthier environment. Addressing these issues will positively impact their academic performance and overall health.
