Telangana police constable Pilli Raju successfully completed the 72-km Khardung La Challenge in Ladakh. He was among 110 of the 250 selected runners who finished this ultra-marathon.
According to Telangana Today, Pilli Raju, hailing from Khammam, overcame adverse weather conditions such as freezing temperatures, low oxygen levels, and high altitude. This challenge is considered one of the most brutal high-altitude ultra-marathons in the world.
Ladakh Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena appreciated Telangana cop Pilli Raju after his successful completion of the Khardung La Challenge, Telangana Today reported.
Speaking to Telangana Today, Raju informed that the run starts at 3 am from Khardung village, ascends 32 km up to Khardung La top, and then descends roughly 40 km through South Pullu.
During the run, he had to contend with bitterly cold winds as well as intense heat and stifling humidity during the afternoon before reaching the finish point at Leh Market, Telangana Today stated.
The completion of such a rigorous international challenge by a police constable from Telangana brings pride to the state. This achievement serves as an inspiration for the youth in both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
