The Telangana government has announced the formation of a single screening committee to oversee the recruitment of assistant professors in universities. This committee will operate under the aegis of the Telangana Council of Higher Education (TGCHE).
Under this new system, the committee will initially screen the certificates of candidates applying for posts across 12 universities. This centralized approach aims to streamline the recruitment process.
The government issued GO 31, which amends the earlier GO 21 that outlined the previous recruitment process for assistant professors in universities.
The revised process now includes academic screening, university-level assessment, and interviews. While universities will issue recruitment notifications, candidates are required to submit their applications online directly to the TGCHE.
However, the Telangana Doctorates Association has raised objections to this decision, alleging that it violates University Grants Commission (UGC) rules.
These changes are expected to significantly impact the recruitment landscape in the state's higher education sector, potentially creating new challenges and opportunities for both applicants and universities.
