The Telangana Intermediate Board has introduced several key changes to the first-year examination system, effective from the 2026-27 academic year. These modifications will require students to give importance to practicals and activities in addition to theory examinations.

According to Vaartha Telugu, internal assessment has been introduced in all subjects along with a new syllabus. This aims to provide a more comprehensive evaluation of students' performance.

Under the new system, 80 percent of the marks will be allocated for the written examination, while 20 percent will be for practicals or internal assessment. This change acknowledges the importance of practical skills.

To pass the 80-mark theory examination, students must secure a minimum of 28 marks. Similarly, in the 20-mark practical component, a minimum of 7 marks is required.

Changes have also been made to the marking scheme for mathematics. Vaartha Telugu reports that the final examination for mathematics will now be conducted for 60 marks instead of 75 marks.

It is crucial for Inter First Year students in Telangana to understand these new changes, as they will directly impact their exam preparation and overall results.
