Around 2.07 lakh students who were enrolled in government and private schools across Telangana during the last academic year (2025-26) are currently untraceable. Authorities do not possess accurate information regarding the whereabouts or current status of these students.

The lack of proper oversight in schools contributed to this situation. Details such as whether students transferred to other schools, passed or failed tenth grade, or dropped out of education entirely are unavailable.

The Unified District School Education Information System (UDISE) mandates the submission of precise data to the Central Ministry of Education. However, in the case of these students, the information provided is incomplete.

Officials stated that approximately 2.05 lakh students in the state are unaccounted for. This figure highlights gaps in the monitoring mechanisms within the state's education system.
