The names of 2.07 lakh students in Telangana are currently in the UDISE portal drop box, the Education Department announced. This situation is causing concern as the 2026-27 academic year began over four months ago, and these names remain there.
When students transfer from one school to another or discontinue their studies, their names are placed in the UDISE portal drop box. The main reason for the current issue is that new schools or colleges have not yet added these names to their enrollment lists.
Last academic year, a total of 58 lakh students were enrolled in classes 1 to 10 across the state. The number of students in the drop box represents a portion of this total student population.
Amid concerns about the number of students who have left school, the Education Department is working to clarify these figures. Officials expect to provide clarity on the future of these students soon.
