The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) has announced a new policy for its drivers and conductors. This decision affects employees who are already managing heavy workloads, often performing double duties as driver-cum-conductors due to staff shortages.
From now on, compensatory leaves (CF, DF) previously given to drivers and conductors who perform continuous additional shifts (double duties) have been cancelled. This decision has led to dissatisfaction among the staff.
The new guidelines will place an increased burden on employees working extra hours. The TGSRTC Executive Director (Operations) issued orders to all regional managers on the 13th of this month regarding these employees.
The TGSRTC stated that granting CF and DF for double duties resulted in staff not being available for work. This unavailability, the corporation said, led to the cancellation of daily scheduled trips.
To prevent this situation and provide better services to passengers, TGSRTC officials said this decision was made. However, labor unions are concerned that this decision will affect employees.
Currently, a red alert is in effect across Telangana due to heavy rainfall. During this period, staff shortages and additional workload could cause inconvenience to passengers.
