Director S.S. Rajamouli shared new details about Varanasi, his film with Mahesh Babu. Speaking to the audience at the 50th São Paulo International Film Festival in Brazil, he said the film is five to six times bigger in scale than RRR. It was his first visit to Brazil.

A shorter shoot

"We shot RRR in 315 days and Varanasi, despite being bigger, in 275 days, saving 40 days," Rajamouli said. He said he did more preparation before filming this time.

A worldwide theatrical release

RRR went straight to streaming in Brazil. For Varanasi, Rajamouli said he plans a major worldwide theatrical release so audiences everywhere can see it on the big screen. No release date has been announced.
