Air Chief Marshal AP Singh, who is retiring at the end of this month, flew a Kiran aircraft at the Air Force Academy (AFA) in Dundigal, near Hyderabad, on Tuesday. This marked his final trainer sortie, according to officials.

Upon landing, Air Chief Marshal Singh received a water cannon salute as a gesture of respect. This ceremony concluded his series of training flights.

Officials described the flight as a nostalgic experience for Singh, as he flew alongside his former instructor, Wing Commander (retd) VS Kochchar, at the AFA. This academy was where he first began his flying career, starting with a Kiran aircraft.

The IAF chief graduated from the AFA in 1984, earning the prestigious Sword of Honour. Earlier, on October 12, he had completed his last fighter jet sortie aboard an indigenous Tejas during Exercise Tarang Shakti at Jodhpur Air Force Station.
