Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday said all vacancies in the state police department would be filled by 2028.

He was speaking at the Police Commemoration Day parade at the Police Martyrs' Memorial in Goshamahal Police Stadium, Hyderabad. The day is observed every year on October 21 to honour police personnel who lost their lives on duty.

Tribute to fallen officers

Revanth Reddy said 154 police personnel across India had died in the line of duty this year, and that there were no words to describe their sacrifice. He remembered Telangana officers who lost their lives serving the public, including ASI Dev Singh, constable M. Pramod Kumar, Sheelam Kamlakar and constable Gajula Sowmya.

Recruitment and reforms

The Chief Minister called the recruitment of 112 DSP posts unprecedented in the state's history. He said the government had appointed transgender persons as traffic assistants, giving them dignity and self-respect. He also praised the Eagle Force and the DGP for their work against drug trafficking.

He said women's safety is not only the job of the police, and that every person in society must share that responsibility.
