IG Rajakumari announced that the police department is undertaking all preliminary measures to ensure the peaceful conduct of local body elections in Andhra Pradesh. She stated that District Superintendents of Police have been alerted following directives from State DGP Harish Kumar Gupta.
Robust security arrangements are being made in problematic areas to prevent any untoward incidents during the elections. Drone surveillance will be deployed in these sensitive regions, the IG confirmed.
As part of the pre-election security planning, the sensitivity of polling stations is being assessed district-wise. Polling centers are being categorized as highly sensitive, sensitive, or normal based on field observations.
Mobile teams and striking forces will be deployed to provide security at identified sensitive and highly sensitive polling stations. IG Rajakumari added that additional forces are ready for deployment where necessary.
