Political tensions have intensified in Rayalaseema ahead of the local body elections. Clashes between cadres of the ruling Telugu Desam and YSR Congress parties have reached a peak in the erstwhile Chittoor, Annamayya, and Kadapa districts.

YSRCP MP Mithun Reddy's convoy was attacked with stones, an incident that has caused a major stir in state politics.

Immediately after the convoy attack, vehicles were set on fire in Rayachoti, further escalating the volatile situation.

Similar clashes also occurred in Pulivendula and Rajampet, with confrontations reported between political party workers in several locations.

The dispute began when party candidates set out to file their nominations, leading to these clashes during the nomination process.

An FIR has been registered against former YSRCP MP Mithun Reddy and 70 others in connection with these incidents. Police have filed a case and are investigating.
