The Central government's recent directive, allowing the appointment of employees from private organizations, societies, and trusts as census staff alongside government teachers and employees, has drawn sharp criticism from the Congress party.

Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh alleged that there was a hidden agenda behind this move. He characterized it as a scheme to provide employment to thousands of RSS and BJP workers.

Ramesh pointed to an RSS training camp held for its members from July 10 to 12. He stated that this camp was primarily focused on the 2027 census.

The Congress party believes that this decision by the Central government compromises the transparency and credibility of the census process. Concerns were raised that the inclusion of private employees could introduce bias into data collection.
