CPM State Secretary V. Srinivasa Rao expressed strong dissatisfaction with the Andhra Pradesh government's declaration of drought-hit mandals. He criticized the announced list, stating it disappointed the public, farmers, and agricultural laborers.
According to NTV Telugu, the CPM demanded that the drought conditions in the state be declared a national disaster and that an appropriate special package be provided.
V. Srinivasa Rao, the CPM State Secretary, stated that conditions across the state were severely affected by the El Niño impact during the Kharif season.
The CPM is demanding that 544 mandals in Andhra Pradesh be declared drought-hit areas.
The current drought conditions are severely impacting the agricultural sector in the state and the people dependent on it.
These developments are significant for the agriculture-dependent economies in both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, as drought declarations determine government assistance for farmers and agricultural laborers.
