Eighteen people in Annaram Thanda, Pitlam mandal, fell ill after consuming goat meat prepared for the Dasara festival. The incident occurred on October 19.
The meat was part of a feast hosted at the home of Megavath Shankar in Annaram Thanda. A goat was slaughtered yesterday for the festivities.
This morning, some of the meat was cooked and consumed by Shankar and his relatives. Shortly after eating, they began to experience discomfort and illness.
Local residents stated that the incident was a case of food poisoning. All affected individuals have been transported to a hospital for medical attention.
