The State Election Commission has announced that strict action will be taken against officials who obstruct candidates or seize their nomination papers during the local body election process. Clear directives have been issued to collectors and superintendents of police in this regard.

The Election Commission took serious note of the matter after the YSR Congress Party filed a complaint alleging obstructions in the filing of nominations.

The Election Commission has mandated robust security arrangements at nomination centers, including compulsory CCTV camera surveillance. It also instructed that all recorded footage must be preserved.

Adequate police protection must be provided to ensure peaceful elections, the Election Commission stated. It warned that disciplinary action would be initiated against any officials found acting with bias.

These directives were issued by the State Election Commission to ensure compliance with High Court orders. The commission emphasized the need for a transparent election process.
