The state government has sought emergency visas for the parents and sister of Shaik Ansar, a Hyderabad student who sustained serious injuries and multiple fractures in an accident in Lilburn, Atlanta, Georgia, on August 25.

According to Deccan Chronicle, Shaik Ansar, a resident of Tolichowki, has been pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology at Indiana Wesleyan University in the US since August 2024. He is currently alone in the US.

Ansar's family in Hyderabad sought government assistance to travel to the US and be with him during this medical emergency. Visas have been requested for his father, Shaik Ibrahim, mother Sograh Begum, and sister Asra Begum.

The state government has requested the Ministry of External Affairs and the Consulate General of India in Atlanta to coordinate with the concerned authorities and facilitate these emergency visas.

As reported by Deccan Chronicle, the family had earlier paid visa fees in April 2026 to travel to the USA for their son’s convocation but could not obtain an appointment due to non-availability of slots.

This incident is significant for families of students from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh studying abroad, as it highlights the importance of government assistance and visa processes during emergencies while overseas.
