In the Narsipatnam municipal elections, the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has fielded Ayyanna Patrudu’s wife, Padmavathi, while the opposition YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has nominated Chintakayala Anita, wife of Sanyasi Patrudu, popularly known as Jameel.

This contest has drawn significant attention to the political differences within the Chintakayala family, which has long wielded considerable influence in the town of Narsipatnam.

These upcoming elections mark the third municipal elections since Narsipatnam was upgraded to a municipality, indicating a maturing political landscape in the area.

The town of Narsipatnam has approximately one lakh residents, including 49,099 registered voters. This electorate comprises 23,317 men, 25,778 women, and four transgender individuals.

Anita previously served as Narsipatnam’s first municipal chairperson, having won the post on a TDP ticket in 2014. At that time, her husband was politically aligned with his elder brother.

The outcome of these elections is crucial for the residents of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, as it will shape the local governance and development trajectory of Narsipatnam, reflecting the evolving political dynamics within influential families and parties.
