Two farmers in Karimnagar and Adilabad districts died by suicide after their crops withered due to a lack of irrigation water and power cuts. They were distressed over the failure of their investments. Farmers allege that the Congress government's failure to provide irrigation water is proving to be a curse for them. Unable to bear the sight of their crops being damaged before their eyes, they took this extreme step.
These tragic incidents occurred in the Shankarapatnam and Jainath areas on October 19. The lack of irrigation and power cuts prevented water from reaching the crops, causing them to dry up. The farmers were disheartened that their investments would not be recovered. The suicides have cast a pall of gloom over the respective villages.
