Former Kollapur MLA Beeram Harshavardhan Reddy on Monday visited Goplapuram and Singavaram villages in Pentlavelli mandal, Nagarkurnool district. He inspected the fields where crops are drying due to water scarcity, accompanied by local farmers.
During his visit, Harshavardhan Reddy demanded that irrigation water be supplied to farmers through the Jurala D-37 canal, which serves the project's last ayacut. He urged authorities to take immediate steps to save the wilting crops.
Farmers expressed their distress, explaining that power cuts and insufficient water supply are preventing their crops, which are in the final stages of growth, from yielding. They became emotional while narrating their plight.
Witnessing the farmers' struggles, former MLA Beeram also became visibly moved. He stated that farmers are facing losses as their crops are drying up due to lack of water just when they are ready for harvest.
