The state government has provisionally decided to utilize Krishna River water for the drinking water requirements of its ambitious Future City project. A special action plan is being formulated to prevent future drinking water shortages in the area. As part of this initiative, the Water Board is preparing plans to supply treated wastewater to data centers and Krishna River water for drinking purposes.
However, the Water Board is still deliberating on the specific source for drawing the Krishna waters. There is no clarity yet on whether these waters should be drawn from the existing Krishna Phase III or from the Palamuru-Rangareddy project. The Water Board is preparing a Detailed Project Report (DPR) in line with the government's decision.
