Doctors at Gandhi Hospital in Secunderabad successfully performed a rare tracheal surgery, saving the life of a 20-year-old man from Bhupalpally. The complex operation was carried out on October 30.
The patient, Sandeep, developed a tracheal problem in 2018 after consuming pesticides. Despite receiving treatment at several hospitals, his trachea was 95 percent blocked.
His family admitted him to Gandhi Hospital after corporate hospitals quoted around Rs. 8 lakh for the treatment, which they could not afford.
The surgical team included cardiothoracic surgeons Ravindra, Padmalatha, and Rajasekhar, ENT specialists Nagaraju and Ramji, and anaesthesia doctors Muralidhar and Sucharitha.
The doctors removed approximately 4 centimeters of the blocked tracheal segment and restored the airway. This procedure was described as highly complex by the medical team.
The successful surgery has given the young man a chance to lead a normal life. Many are commending the efforts of the doctors at Gandhi Hospital.
