Doctors at Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad successfully performed a complex airway reconstruction surgery on a 20-year-old man. The procedure restored normal breathing for the patient, who had been suffering from respiratory difficulties for six years.
The surgery took place on September 30. Doctors at Gandhi Hospital stated that the man's windpipe was 90 to 95 percent narrowed before the operation.
During the procedure, doctors removed a 4-cm section of the constricted windpipe. They then joined the two remaining ends with sutures.
The patient has since recovered fully. He is being discharged without any breathing difficulty or wheezing.
Gandhi Hospital doctors performed this complex surgery free of cost. This allowed the patient to receive necessary medical care without financial burden.
