Godavari bund survey work near Kollu Cheruvu in Burgampahad mandal center was obstructed by members of the Kollu Cheruvu Society on Thursday. They demanded an immediate halt to the survey, which was being conducted under the supervision of surveyor Sanjeev.

The society members expressed distress, stating that Kollu Cheruvu is their livelihood and that losing it due to the bund construction survey would severely impact their families. They emphasized that their lives depend on the fish farming conducted in the pond.

The members demanded that the survey in the area be stopped immediately and that Kollu Cheruvu be protected from being included in the survey. They asserted that officials have a responsibility to safeguard the pond.

Should Kollu Cheruvu be lost in the survey, the society members requested that the government ensure they receive appropriate compensation. Namasthe Telangana reported that due to their protest, the survey work was temporarily halted.

Among those who obstructed the survey were society president Gunde Narasimha Rao, members Billakanti Papayya, Gonela Venkateshwarlu, Boggula Satish, Chandrayya, and several farmers, according to Namasthe Telangana.

This incident highlights the impact of Godavari bund construction projects on the livelihoods of local communities and the necessity of providing adequate compensation, which could lead to broader discussions regarding similar projects in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
