Godavari waters continue to flow downstream wastefully at the Medigadda barrage. A flood flow of 22,900 cusecs from Pranahita is ongoing daily.

Even in the current drought conditions, there is an opportunity to conserve 2 TMC of Godavari waters daily. This water could be utilized by maintaining the barrage level or by constructing a barrier using geotube technology.

Experts estimate that constructing a barrier with geotube technology would cost approximately Rs. 9 crore. There is also a possibility of diverting water using Gabriel technology.

However, the Congress government is not focusing on this aspect. Critics allege that the government is prioritizing politics over the interests of farmers.

A flow of 23,000 cusecs is ongoing at Medigadda. Despite the potential to store this water, it is flowing downstream without being utilized.

Farmers are urging the government to respond immediately and make use of these waters. Otherwise, the drought conditions risk worsening.
