Obstacles to the conduct of municipal elections in Andhra Pradesh are gradually being removed for the State Election Commission. According to a Oneindia Telugu report, there are no issues for conducting elections in 100 urban local bodies already. Legal battles are ongoing in the High Court regarding petitions filed against elections in 23 local bodies that were stalled due to court cases. In a recent development, the High Court has given the green light for elections in 20 of these locations. This move is expected to accelerate the municipal election process in the state.
