Kadapa district witnessed several incidents of violence on Saturday during the municipal election nomination process. Disruptions to filing nominations were reported in Pulivendula, Kadapa town, Kamalapuram, and Mydukur.

In Pulivendula, police resorted to firing six rounds into the air to disperse clashing groups. Tear gas shells were also deployed by law enforcement to bring the situation under control.

Leaders from the YSRC party staged protests and sit-ins, alleging that they were being prevented from submitting their nominations. These accusations have heightened political tensions across the district.

With Sunday, October 18, being the final day for filing nominations, a large number of candidates gathered at municipal offices throughout the district on Saturday. The heavy turnout contributed to the outbreak of these clashes.
