Officials are evaluating various aspects concerning the repair work for the Medigadda barrage and other barrages within the Kaleshwaram project. A central point of discussion is whether to entrust these responsibilities to the original construction companies or to select new contractors through a transparent tender process.
The Irrigation Department is holding extensive discussions on the proposal to assign repair duties to the firms previously involved in the construction of the Kaleshwaram barrages. This decision is undergoing careful consideration by officials.
Initially, the estimated cost for repairing the three barrages was approximately Rs. 2,500 crore. However, current assessments suggest that this expenditure could increase further, according to officials.
The final cost for the repairs will become clear only after the completion of detailed designs, drawings, and technical inspections. Officials are working to expedite this process.
