The GHMC has cancelled the proposed extensive network of flyovers around KBR Park, a crucial and busy area in Hyderabad, according to Telugu360. This decision has become a topic of discussion among city residents.

Plans were initially drawn up for flyovers and underpasses at six major junctions around KBR Park. The estimated cost for these works was 1,090 crores.

Officials stated that the experimental clockwise one-way traffic system implemented for these works has resulted in smooth traffic flow. Therefore, the mega project has been set aside, and only a single elevated corridor will be pursued, Telugu360 reported.

While it may be true that traffic pressure appears to have decreased for now, Telugu360 noted, the question arises about future needs.

Thousands of new vehicles are hitting the roads every month in the city. Telugu360 expressed concern that the rapidly increasing number of vehicles could exacerbate traffic problems in the future.

With the continuous increase in the number of vehicles in Hyderabad, the cancellation of flyovers at KBR Park could lead to long-term traffic issues. This will impact the daily commutes of city residents in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
