The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has scrapped proposed works around KBR Park and approved an elevated corridor from Punjagutta to Jubilee Hills Check Post. This decision aims to alleviate traffic congestion in Hyderabad.
According to Hyderabad Mail, the decision was made at a Standing Committee meeting chaired by Special Chief Secretary Jayesh Ranjan. Several key issues were discussed and approved during this meeting.
The committee cancelled proposed works at Jubilee Check Post, KBR Park Gate, Mugdha Junction, Basavatarakam Cancer Hospital, and other locations. This indicates a significant shift in urban planning for the city.
The committee also approved the termination of contracts signed with KNR and Megha for the cancelled works. This is part of a broader restructuring of the projects.
A six-lane elevated corridor from NFCL Junction at Punjagutta to the Jubilee Check Post Metro Station road was approved by the Standing Committee. This corridor will be approximately 4 km long.
The proposed elevated corridor is intended to provide a signal-free road connection towards HITEC City. This will significantly reduce travel time and ease traffic congestion for residents in Hyderabad and the broader Telangana region.
