Police constable Devasoth Shankar, currently serving at Medak Town police station, suffered a brain stroke while on duty and is undergoing treatment in the ICU. According to Telangana Today, BRS working president KT Rama Rao has offered to personally bear Shankar's medical expenses.

BRS general secretary RS Praveen Kumar, who met Shankar’s family at KIMS, Secunderabad, stated that the constable’s family was struggling to meet the treatment expenses despite exhausting their resources.

Telangana Today reported that Shankar was initially taken to Wellness Hospital and later shifted to NIMS, where the family was reportedly told that no bed was available.

Shankar joined the police as a home guard in 2013 and became a constable in 2024. He is presently serving at Medak Town police station.

The incident has reignited concerns over the implementation of the Employee Health Scheme, as reported by Telangana Today. This raises questions about the availability of healthcare facilities for government employees.

While KTR's financial aid provides immediate relief to Shankar's family, addressing the shortcomings in the Employee Health Scheme's implementation is crucial for government employees across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
