Residents in Visakhapatnam's Madhurawada area are expressing serious concerns about the deplorable condition of roads and drainage systems ahead of the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) elections. They lament that even basic civic services remain unaddressed.

In Srinivasa Nagar, gravel intended for road laying, which was unloaded in August, still lies in large heaps beside the roads. This has resulted in rutted, puddle-strewn roads, causing significant inconvenience to the public.

The poor condition of the roads is creating severe difficulties for motorists and pedestrians alike. These roads become even more hazardous during rainfall.

The inadequate drainage system leads to sewage overflowing onto the roads, emitting foul odors. Residents are concerned that this poses a threat to public health.

Garbage collection is also reportedly inefficient, leading to an accumulation of waste in the streets and an unsanitary environment, according to the people of Madhurawada.

With the GVMC elections approaching, residents are expressing anger over the authorities' negligence in addressing these fundamental issues. They are demanding immediate resolution of these problems.
