Mahatma Gandhi Cancer Hospital in Visakhapatnam has completed 500 robotic cancer surgeries, as reported by Hello Vizag. This achievement marks a significant milestone in the hospital's provision of advanced medical services.

Dr. Murali Krishna Voonna, the hospital's Managing Director and Chief Surgical Oncologist, stated that the dedicated robotic surgery unit combines surgical precision with multidisciplinary cancer care.

Among the procedures performed were a robotic left adrenalectomy for a patient with severe hypertension caused by pheochromocytoma and a retroperitoneal lymph-node dissection to remove residual cancerous tissue following chemotherapy for testicular cancer.

Doctors highlighted that robotic platforms offer enhanced visualization and precise instrument control. This can be particularly useful when operating in confined anatomical areas close to major blood vessels.

The hospital currently uses the da Vinci Si robotic surgical system as part of its cancer-care technology, according to Hello Vizag.

For patients in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, this development signifies the availability of advanced cancer treatment options, potentially leading to improved outcomes and faster recovery.
