Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan announced that Maoism in the country is nearing its end. He added that insurgencies in the Northeast have decreased, though some areas still face challenges.
Mohan was the chief guest at the Dikshant Parade for the 78th batch of IPS officers at the National Police Academy in Hyderabad on Saturday. He noted that India has confronted left-wing extremism, insurgencies in the Northeast, and both domestic and foreign-sponsored terrorism over the past 50 years.
National Police Academy Director Sujit Pandey stated that the 78th batch comprised 151 trainees. Among them, 135 were IPS officers, and 16 were officers from neighboring countries.
Director Pandey further explained that these trainees underwent rigorous 45-week training. He expressed confidence that these officers would contribute to strengthening the nation's internal security.
