The MLC election process to elect two members to the Legislative Council in Telangana appears to be suffering from official neglect. The registration process for graduate voters is proceeding at an extremely sluggish pace.
Graduate voters are not showing much interest in registering their names. In addition, officials are also being negligent in the verification of the applications received.
So far, only 3,53,897 applications have been received. Of these, 2,409 applications have been approved, while 220 applications have been rejected. The verification of the remaining applications is still incomplete.
Only 20 days remain for voter registration. If officials do not act more proactively during this period, many eligible voters risk losing their right to vote.
This neglect of the MLC election process in Telangana will severely impact the democratic process. It hinders eligible graduates from exercising their right to vote.
