The National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued crucial guidelines to enhance patient safety in hospitals and medical colleges across the country. These new regulations are designed to rectify deficiencies in medical services and provide better care for patients.

These guidelines address issues such as medical errors, hospital expenses, and other problems faced by patients. The NMC has emphasized that patient safety must be prioritized from admission until the patient is discharged from the hospital.

According to these guidelines, Patient Safety Committees must be established in hospitals. These committees will monitor medical errors and take appropriate measures to prevent them, thereby ensuring a safer environment for patients.

Each medical college and hospital must have supervision across 11 departments. Additionally, the appointment of nodal officers for each cell is mandatory. This will help in analyzing and rectifying hazardous incidents.

These new regulations also apply to hospitals in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. With the implementation of these guidelines, patients are expected to receive safer and higher-quality medical services, thereby increasing trust in the healthcare sector.
