The Southern Regional Police Coordination Committee (SRPCC) met on Friday at the Integrated Command and Control Centre in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad. DGPs of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala attended, along with officers from central agencies. They discussed inter-state crime, cybercrime, drugs and road safety.

"Today, no state can become free of crimes only through its own efforts," Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said. He asked officers to build strong links between police headquarters. He said Telangana is ready to share its command-and-control technology with neighbouring states.

Reforms the government listed

  • Three commissionerates in the Hyderabad Core Urban Region: Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Malkajgiri.
  • New agencies: HYDRAA, the EAGLE Force against drugs, and TG-Safe to curb food adulteration and regulate drugs.
  • The CM said Telangana ranked first nationally in cybercrime prevention in the PRAGATI review.

DGP C.V. Anand said states often work in silos, so a weak spot in one southern state can expose the others. The annual national DGPs' conference will be held in Tirupati from December 4 to 6. Telangana last hosted the SRPCC in 2019.
