NTR District Collector and Election Officer G Lakshmisha on Monday warned of strict legal action for violations of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) for local body elections. He urged political parties to cooperate for free and fair polls.
The Collector stated that asking for votes based on caste, religion, language, or region, inciting hatred, and making personal attacks on opponents are serious offenses. Authorities will take action against such activities.
He also warned that distributing cash, liquor, or gifts to influence voters would invite legal action. These actions constitute a breach of election conduct rules.
Public meetings, rallies, and processions require prior permission from the authorities. Conducting such events without approval will lead to legal consequences.
Collector G Lakshmisha explained the MCC guidelines, expenditure limits, account maintenance, and campaign norms to the parties. He emphasized the importance of adhering to these regulations.
All political parties and candidates must follow the Election Commission's guidelines to ensure a smooth electoral process. The Collector sought cooperation from all stakeholders.
