A panel of experts has expressed significant satisfaction with the progress of work on Gap-2 of the ECRF dam at the Polavaram Project. Following field tests on soil moisture and compaction conducted on Friday, the Panel of Experts (PoE) described the progress as "very good" and "going on very well."

The experts' team, comprising Richard Donnelly, Gianfranco Di Cicco, Sean Hinchberger, and David Paul, inspected the site. They were joined by Polavaram Project Authority (PPA) CEO Sanjeev Vohra and member secretary M. Raghuram.

Officials from the water resources department and representatives of Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Limited (MEIL), the executing agency, provided explanations regarding the progress of earthwork and the placement of soil, rock, and sand in the dam.

The experts meticulously examined the soil moisture content and its strength after compaction. At their direction, MEIL personnel excavated test pits at two locations to facilitate a direct assessment of the material's quality.

PPA CEO Vohra also actively participated in the exercise, personally using a pickaxe and spade to inspect the soil and verify the quality of the work being undertaken.

This positive assessment provides reassurance to the people of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana regarding the advancement of the Polavaram Project. It marks an important step towards the timely completion of this crucial multi-purpose irrigation project.
